We have recently been delivering a new Alcohol Awareness programme at Canal View Primary School, Edinburgh. This programme has been delivered in partnership with Edinburgh City Council and Big Hearts. With ourselves delivering the classroom aspect and Big Hearts delivering the physical football activity.

The goal behind the “Don’t Start It” project is to develop sustainable coping strategies when in peer settings to reject pressure of engagement with alcohol and other substances. We strive to provide this care and support through delivery to 150 pupils annually.

Pupils will gain further knowledge on how alcohol can affect the body, therefore holding greater understanding of the risks to their body and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This knowledge will support young people to make better choices and keep themselves safe.
